National Trust of Australia Queensland (NTAQ) is a membership-based community organisation and registered charity that works to protect, conserve and celebrate the Environmental, Built and Cultural heritage of our State. NTAQ collection includes Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, and the renowned Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.
Since its creation in 1989, Currumbin Wildlife Hospital has grown to be one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the world, now treating over 14,000 animals every year. In addition, the hospital provides veterinary care to the Sanctuary animal collection and importantly, conducts world-leading research and conservation projects, often working collaboratively with high level partners.
The Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Team is currently seeking a qualified Wildlife Veterinarian for a 12-month internship. The Hospital prides itself on providing the highest level of care possible to our patients and the successful candidate will work alongside experienced wildlife veterinarians while working on their own caseload.
Position details & duties
Responsible for providing wildlife veterinary care, including all clinical and surgical duties as level of experience allows.
Undertake laboratory diagnostic procedures, including sample collection and storage.
Assist during examinations and clinical/surgical procedures.
Calculate, prepare and administer medications, including anaesthetics.
Demonstrate and undertake safe capture and restraint techniques of both native and exotic species.
Undertake associated administrative duties including recording and maintaining clinical treatment files, laboratory diagnostic test results.
Assist and participate in research projects as required.
This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week. Regular working days Friday through to Tuesday.
This internship will run from July 2021 to July 2022.
Pay rate and conditions are under the Animal Care and Veterinary Services Award 2020·
The successful applicant may be required to provide a satisfactory police check clearance.
Non-smokers preferred.
Selection Criteria:
Please note that only applicants who meet all selection criteria will be considered for interview.
Must hold minimum qualification of BVSc, registered in Queensland.
Understanding and knowledge of local wildlife species is preferred.
Can demonstrate a highly flexible, cooperative and positive attitude.
Has high level of time management and organisational skills.
Has a professional approach to duties and standard of personal presentation.
Have very capable computer skills.
Holds a current driver’s licence.
Can liaise and communicate in a friendly and effective manner with all key internal department staff including volunteers and external local community groups and associated veterinary contacts.
Must be comfortable in meeting all necessary vaccination requirements for the role.
Knowledge and understanding of the key elements of Currumbin Sanctuary Wildlife Hospital is highly desirable.

Klara’s House is a well-established local event business based in Currumbin Waters, offering stunning events across South East Queensland. Our events cater for intimate or large weddings, elopements, baby showers, bridal showers, memorial services, birthdays and much more!

The role
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a creative intern or work experience person to join our team of event stylists.
Our events are typically based on the weekends with hours varying on Saturday and Sunday. We also work throughout the week on prep days to ensure all equipment and décor are ready for client bookings.
The successful applicant will be involved in all facets of on-the-day styling as well as:
Assisting in pre event and equipment preparation
Setting up the styling and décor to bring our events to life
Assisting with floral arrangements
Packing up events and organising/ tidying storage area
General cleaning and maintenance of event décor and furniture
Assisting with general administrative tasks including bookkeeping, updating social media, client bookings and organising council permits
Researching trends and creating inspiration boards
Assisting with various projects as required
About you

Reporting Relationship:

Hours
